Your media stays local

The core principle of CinemaDigest is that the video files you process never leave your computer. The desktop app runs transcription, scene analysis, narration, soundtrack generation, and rendering locally. We do not upload, store, or receive your source films, and we cannot access them.

What we do collect

• Account data — your name, email address, and a password hash (PBKDF2), stored to let you sign in, verify your email, and reset your password.
• Subscription data — your plan, status, and the recaps you plan each month, so we can meter usage and enforce your plan limits.
• Legal acceptance records — the versions of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy you accepted, when you accepted them, and basic request metadata used to record that acceptance.
• Marketing consent — if you opt in (at signup or via the newsletter form), we store your email address so we can send product news and update announcements. Opt-in is always optional, and every message includes a way to unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe any time by clicking the link in a message or emailing support@movierecapper.com.
• Device/session data — a device id and session records so we can secure your account and let you manage “sign out everywhere.”
• Basic request metadata — IP address and user-agent, used for abuse prevention and to attribute sessions.

What we do not collect

• Your source video or audio files — ever.
• Your captions, rendered recaps, or output files, unless you choose to share them.
• Your credit card details — payments are handled by Stripe.

Payments

Subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Payment details are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe’s privacy policy. We receive only the confirmation that your subscription is active.

Third parties

• Cloudflare — hosts our service and serves our web app. Cloudflare’s edge processes standard request metadata.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• LLM providers — process planning request text to produce your recap plan.

Cookies

Our web app does not use advertising cookies. It may store a login token in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in.

Your choices

• Delete your account: email us at support@movierecapper.com.
• Manage sessions: use the “Devices” button in the desktop app or the account page on the web to sign out other devices.
• Password reset: use the “Forgot” flow in the app.
